- Hosts, co-hosts and moderators can now see a "Check audience view" toggle in their Settings window during a live event. When they toggle "Check audience view" on, a little window opens, showing what the audience is currently seeing. The host can move and/or re-size this window as required. Some notes:
- If Check audience view is toggled on while the host is in the green room, they will simply see the audience lobby picture, as that is what the audience sees when the event is not streaming
- The Audience View is local to the host that toggled it on. It does not affect what other participants see or what the audience sees.
- There will be an incremental download bandwidth of 1 Mbps when the Audience View is open.
- The host can safely Play a Video or Share screen while the Audience View is open.
- Audience View works fine even when the host has enabled Low bandwidth mode. In fact, the audience view can be used as a reduced-bandwidth way for a host to see the other participants' videos! How, you ask? Well, in the regular host view, each participant's video takes up around 1 Mbps of download bandwidth so if there are, say, 4 other participants, the download bandwidth to see all of them will be 4+ Mbps. To date, if the host's network connection couldn't handle that kind of download speed, their only option was to enable Low bandwidth mode, which blocked the download of all videos from all participants. Now, they have another option - they can toggle both Check audience view and Low bandwidth mode on and, as long as they're streaming, they will see the other participants videos in the Audience View window, at a download cost of only 1 Mbps, which most internet connections can handle just fine.
